Flirting - Body Language Skills to Master

Some people think that the ability to flirt is something you either have or don't have. The art of flirting can be mastered by anyone. It only takes practice if you are willing to put in the effort. Everyone masters the art of flirting differently, but there are some basic body language skills to master which might help you to find the flirt within.

The first thing you need to know is that flirting can be done by anyone. It doesn't matter if you are not traditionally handsome or beautiful. People will be attracted to the qualities that are unique to you. Before you can flirt successfully you need to begin with understanding yourself. So how do you get others to recognise you are the kind of person they want to spend time with? Non-verbal communication is the key. A good starting point for learning the art of flirting is to focus on your eyes (not literally I add!) You know those times when you look around a room and suddenly you catch the gaze of someone and hold it for a moment? What is it about you that caught their attention? There are many different levels at which you can convey your interest, just by the different types of look you give. Flirting can incorporate many different types of gaze. Making eye contact, holding it, breaking it for a couple of seconds and then re-engaging is one of the most basic methods of flirting, but extremely effective. This quickly conveys that you are interested in flirting with them and you will be able to tell from their reaction whether or not they share your interest. More aggressive flirting is done through giving the object of flirtation a look, which says, I am thinking dirty things about you. A lingering look, a glance up and down their body, maybe a stare, which satisfies their primeval instinct.

Eye contact is obviously crucial, but should be used along with other kinds of body language. You need to emphasise you are open to communication by learning how to position your body correctly in relation to them. Flirting is a combination of being able to read their signals whilst also revealing your intentions. Learning how to flirt is great fun, and will rapidly increase your confidence in all areas of your life.
