There are some areas of the body that should simply be off-limits as far as tattooing goes. I'll explain the reasoning why, but first will acknowledge that these rules apply in general, and obviously there will be many exceptions for people heavily into tattoos and such, but generally one should think twice, or rather think hard ten times before ever considering tattooing these areas.
1. Face Tattoos.
This is a very extreme place to get tattooed. There were statistics out some years back that found the rate of suicide was incredibly high for those having chosen face tattoos. Yet now days you begin seeing face tattoos pop up more and more. There seems an urgency for trying to out do everyone else and "be extreme". This is understandable since tattooing has become more mainstream, but..
Face tattoos can be highly regrettable and whatever you think is "extreme" or "cool" right now can flip on you very quickly and the extreme face ink can become stupid and lame, not only in the minds of others, but you in your own mind as well. That's where the major regret sinks in, but unlike an arm tattoo, this is one you can't cover up and will wish would just go away.
2. Neck Tattoos.
Maybe I'll get some slack for this, but think twice about neck tattoos. I've known people who have gotten neck tattoos, only to get a job a few years later where their employer would make them wear a band aid on their neck to cover up the ink. This will usually be a job they actually like and need, yet they end up having to wear a band aid on their neck 8 hours a day, nearly everyday. If they had known some of the hassles of neck tattoos, like constant staring and employer hang ups, they said they would've probably chosen a much lower positioning or a different position altogether.
3. Cheap Hand Tattoos.
You see these a lot, and they are usually one of the most regrettable forms of ink that people have in their later years. They are usually self made for free, and the results are what you would expect. No, actually they are usually worse than you would expect, as over the years these dull green ink jobs blur into indescribable shapes and forms where it looks more like a bad skin condition rather than a tattoo. It's not a huge deal if its on a upper arm, but when they are on the hands like they often are, there's little chance for a good cover up ink job to be pulled off.
