Tips on Muscle Contraction

Muscle Contraction is the result of tension building up in the body's muscular tissue. This tension could result in either increase, decrease no change in the length of the muscle. Muscular contraction occurs during all exercises, but some exercises aim at targeting specific muscles to build and strengthen them. So tips on muscle contraction means about the same as tips on exercise. Skeletal muscle is generally strengthened and built-up through exercises like weight lifting, while cardiac muscle and the body's total skeletal muscle is kept lean and fit through jogging or swimming.

Here are a few tips that should make your muscle contracting experience a.k.a exercise both rewarding and safe;

1. Know your Aim: why are you exercising? Is it to build strength or muscle mass? Or is the exercise for maintaining overall health? The answers to these questions are crucial because they will determine the type of exercise you will perform. To build body muscle generally anaerobic (oxygen deficient) exercises are done. These include weight lifting and sprints. For overall muscular health, such as cardiovascular health and toning of the body, aerobic (with oxygen) exercises are done. These include jogging, cycling and swimming.

2. Consult a Physician: it is a wise step to consult your physician before taking up any kind of exercise routine. If you're going for muscle building activity, have a medical exam first to see if your body has the stamina to handle the intensity.

3. Start Slow: If you've never worked-out before, don't plunge right into an intense routine. Take it slow. Start with daily walks or jogging to get your muscles moving. Then after your body gets used to idea of burning calories and heightened levels of activity start a more focused routine or more disciplined sport.

4. Drink lots of water: when your body exercises, your muscles need oxygen to keep going. They get this oxygen from your blood. The more water you drink, the more easily will blood flow in your veins and reach the needy muscles. Even if your weight lifting, muscles will need oxygen when they are rejuvenating. Because of your exercise, you will be perspiring even more, the body will need an ample reservoir of water to draw on or else you may dehydrate.

5. Rest is Mandatory: the secret to good health is not found in running the human body like a locomotive. Your body needs rest to really thrive on the exercise your doing. So make sure you get plenty of rest. If you're jogging or cycling, a good night's sleep should be enough. If your muscle building, you'll probably need to take days off in the week from your routine to give your muscles time to heal and gain the desired strength.

6. Get an Exercise Partner: find a friend to exercise with. This will keep you both committed to your regime.

7. Ensure a Healthy supply of Oxygen: whether your exercise is an anaerobic regime or aerobic one, make sure you do it somewhere there is an ample supply of oxygen. Also wear loose clothing so your skin doesn't suffocate during the work-out.

8. Maintain Variety: don't get caught in a rut. Make sure your routine is a versatile one and you don't get bored doing it. Also make it interesting and fun by taking up activities you know you'll enjoy doing. Joining a fitness club may be more fun then training alone.

9. Maintain a record: record the effects of your exercise routine on a daily basis. This will help you keep track of your progress and evaluate your fitness.

10. Reward Yourself: to keep yourself motivated, promise yourself rewards when you reach your goals. These rewards should be something you enjoy and should be proportional to the size of your achievement.
